ABSTRACT This review systematically describes a decade update on the synthetic utility of strained epoxide and various methodologies used for the synthesis of five‐, six‐, and seven‐membered rings with emphasis on CO 2 fixation and atom‐economic ring expansion. Stereoselective ring‐opening reactions of epoxides disclose new and efficient routes for synthetically and pharmaceutically potent oxygen‐containing heterocyclic structures as well as acyclic scaffolds.
