Evaluates the repairability of vitrimers in composites, indicating their potential for large-scale applications.
Vitrimers are a new class of self-healing polymers that combine the mechanical properties of thermosets and the reprocessability of thermoplastics: for these characteristics vitrimers allow composites to be Repaired, Reshaped and Reprocessed. Delamination is a major source of failure in composites so it is crucial to assess delamination resistance and repairability of vitrimer-based composites with a view to large-scale application such as wind turbine blades or aerospace structures, where vitrimers are going to be integrated with conventional matrices.
