Abstract

New energy technology is essential for promoting sustainable social development and addressing energy issues. The range of electric vehicles has always been a research focus for automobile manufacturers. To address the issues of energy scarcity and imperfections in new energy technologies, this paper proposes a novel master-slave hydraulic electric hybrid vehicle (MS-HEHV). This vehicle has multiple power sources and can achieve mutual mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical energy conversion. To enhance the comfort, performance, and efficiency of the vehicle, this paper utilizes parameters such as brake signal, acceleration signal, and vehicle speed, along with seven working modes, to establish a rule-based control strategy while considering power impact. This strategy enhances driving comfort, reduces the maximum motor output power, and extends the vehicle’s travel range. Simulations under standard conditions show that the new control strategy for the MS-HEHV significantly reduces the power impact during mode switching, decreases the maximum output torque of the motor, and lowers the energy consumption rate. The comprehensive approach of considering multiple signals to enhance overall vehicle performance provides a significant reference value for research on hybrid electric vehicle control strategies.
