This mini-review highlights advancements in synthesizing chiral boron compounds and their implications.
Comparing with the synthesis of chiral compounds bearing stereogenic carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and silicon, the preparation of chiral compounds bearing stereogenic boron centers and C‐B axes has been less developed. Most reported methods for the boron‐stereogenic compound syntheses have been focused on kinetic resolution and chiral substrate‐induced diastereoselective approaches. Currently, the primary methodologies for constructing boron‐stereogenic compounds include desymmetric cross‐coupling reactions, asymmetric B−H bond insertion reactions, and desymmetric C–H (hetero)arylation reactions. This mini‐review aims to provide an overview of the advancements in the asymmetric catalytic synthesis of boron‐stereogenic compounds and C‐B axial chirality, offering valuable insights for further research and practical applications in this emerging field.
