This theoretical analysis examines community resilience in fishing populations, highlighting their asset-based strengths and challenges.
The geographical condition of Indonesia with a maritime pattern with islands has consequences for the welfare of coastal communities that live and develop, one of which is the fishing community in Jakarta Bay. Fishing communities on the coast of Jakarta Bay are experiencing marginalization along with the rapid growth of the city of Jakarta. The problems faced include: 1) structural and cultural poverty; 2) damage to ecosystems and vulnerability to disasters, and; 3) the potential of the fishing community to remain subsistence. The Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model is used as a base for the resilience of coastal fishing communities that are considered to lack pontence and assets. The ABCD model focuses on empowering a community through the assets and strengths that the community already has before. This paper is still a basic theoretical assumption. The data and information sources collected are secondary so further research is needed.
