Case report reveals rehabilitation challenges in patients with overlapping Guillain–Barré syndrome and myasthenia gravis, highlighting the need for individualized care.
Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) and myasthenia gravis (MG) are distinct autoimmune neuromuscular disorders, but rare overlap can occur. Such coexistence complicates diagnosis, prolongs intensive care stay and challenges rehabilitation due to dual respiratory, bulbar and motor involvement. We report a patient initially diagnosed with GBS, later found to have overlapping MG, who underwent structured multidisciplinary rehabilitation. The case highlights the importance of individualised rehabilitation planning, vigilant respiratory management and structured follow-up in improving the outcomes.
