Key Points

  • This research aims to understand the dynamic behavior of polyvinylpyrrolidone hydrogel over time.
  • Utilized dynamic light scattering (DLS) to study PVP hydrogel dynamics.
  • Analyzed the autocorrelation function (ACF) of scattered light intensity.
  • Determined the fractal dimension of the hydrogel.
  • Demonstrated stability in dynamic characteristics of the PVP gel.
  • Identified a power-law component in the ACF.
  • Calculated the fractal dimension as Df = 1.81.

Abstract

Abstract In this work, the dynamic behavior of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) hydrogel (2%) over time from the moment of dilution was studied using the dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. The stability of the dynamic characteristics, the persistent presence of a power-law component in the autocorrelation function (ACF) of scattered light intensity, and the appearance of artifactual relaxation times when using an exponential expansion program for the ACF were demonstrated. The fractal dimension of the PVP gel was determined to be D f = 1.81.
