Case series reports improved bleb morphology and lower intraocular pressure after mitomycin C injection in glaucoma surgeries, suggesting effective modulation techniques.
We report four cases of use of Inj mitomycin C (MMC) (20 mcg) in the subconjunctival space adjacent to bleb of MMC augmented trabeculectomies, followed by bleb massage regimen. These blebs had increasing bleb vascularity and intraocular pressure (IOP), along with a reduction in bleb height and extent at 2 weeks to 1 month postoperatively. After Inj MMC and bleb massage regimen, a reduction in IOP in the range of 4 to 11 mm Hg at 1 month post-injection, along with improvement in bleb morphology as per the Indiana Bleb Appearance Grading Score, was noted. There were no complications or adverse effects noted in two cases, which were followed up till 1 year post-injection, and one case, which was followed up till 2 years post-injection.
