Examines flurochloridone's effects on weed control in processing tomatoes, suggesting improved herbicide strategies.
For weed control in processing tomato, new herbicides need to be registered and evaluated under current production conditions. This study examined the selectivity and efficacy of flurochloridone applied in tank-mix combinations with metobromuron or dimethenamid-P, before and after transplanting tomato seedlings. All treatments provided good to excellent weed control efficacy (75–>90%), while crop injury was observed in all treated plots, with the highest damage recorded in treatments containing metobromuron. The results indicate that although effective weed control can be achieved, further research is required to optimize herbicide combinations, application timing, and rates in order to maintain high efficacy while reducing crop injury in processing tomato production.
