Abstract :In the contemporary Indian marketplace, social media influencers have emerged as pivotalintermediaries between brands and consumers, particularly among millennials who represent oneof the most digitally engaged demographic segments in the country. This empirical study seeks todecode the nature and extent of digital influence exerted by social media influencers on millennialpurchase decisions in India. Anchored in the context of India’s rapidly expanding digital economy, the research examines how factors such as influencer credibility, perceived authenticity, contentrelevance, and platform engagement shape consumer attitudes and buying behaviour. The study is based on primary data collected from millennial consumers across selectedurban and semi-urban regions of India, reflecting diverse socio-economic and culturalbackgrounds. Using structured questionnaires and statistical tools such as correlation andregression analysis, the research evaluates the relationship between influencer marketing attributesand key stages of the consumer decision-making process, including awareness creation, consideration, trust formation, and final purchase intent. Special attention is given to sector-specific influences, particularly in fashion, beauty, electronics, and lifestyle products, which dominate influencer-driven promotions in the Indian market. The findings indicate that Indian millennials are not passive recipients of influencercontent; rather, they actively evaluate influencers based on authenticity, consistency, andalignment with personal values. Trust and relatability emerge as stronger determinants of purchasedecisions than mere follower count or celebrity status. The study also highlights growing scepticism toward overtly sponsored content, suggesting a shift toward preference for micro-influencers and transparent brand collaborations. By offering empirically grounded insights, this research contributes to the academicdiscourse on digital marketing and consumer behaviour in India. It also provides practicalimplications for marketers, policymakers, and content creators seeking to design ethicallyresponsible and culturally resonant influencer marketing strategies tailored to the Indianmillennial consumer.
