For the last ten decades, since the first observation, the question in steel metallurgy has been why recalescence happens in iron steel, particularly during pearlite evolution. Pearlitic steel has a wide range of industrial applications. However, the fundamental evolution mechanism of the recalescence is not yet fully clear. The current work will demonstrate the “No-recalescence” state during pearlite transformation since the first observation of the recalescence process in the steel. The work aims to illustrate the unique relationship between cementite morphology and the possibility of achieving the “No-recalescence” state during pearlite transformation. Additionally, the current work may provide a new path to produce direct hot-rolled spheroidized pearlitic steel sheet without employing cold-rolling and spheroidization annealing.
