ABSTRACT This study investigated the participation of students in a College of Architecture, Design and Construction at one university to better understand student participation and the perceived impact of study abroad experiences, and aspects of the experience that were most impactful. Results indicate that students in the college participate in study abroad at a higher rate than other colleges in the university and cite this as a peak learning moment. These findings suggest that studying abroad can be a powerful transformational experience for graduating students in a College of Architecture, Design, and Construction. The study also provides valuable insights into the elements of high‐impact educational practices and components of moments that can be incorporated into study abroad programs to maximize student learning and growth.
