This review examines theoretical research on diagnostic methods in traditional Chinese medicine, highlighting modernization implications.
The modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnostic theories involves both the preservation of classical medical wisdom and the integration of advanced scientific technologies to meet the evolving demands of contemporary medicine. This paper reviews the state of theoretical research on TCM diagnostic methods in 2024, encompassing inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry, palpation, and characteristic diagnostic approaches, and succinctly summarizes recent advances and emerging research trends in this field. Furthermore, in response to the requirements of modernization, this review proposes strategies to propel the development of TCM diagnostic theories, with emphasis on strengthening theoretical foundations, enhancing clinical applicability, and integrating intelligent technologies.
