Experimental data reveals permafrost temperature reactions to climate change in West Siberia, indicating future implications.
This paper deals with experimental geothermic data characterizing the temperature field of the modern permafrost in West Siberia. The geothermal permafrost model includes distributions of air and earth surface temperatures, and heat flows in frozen and thawed rocks, data on permafrost structure, and the stationary level of its temperature field, and possible scenarios of changing surface temperature as a result of possible warming of the climate in the next decades. These and other data given in this paper may be used in the future for numerical modeling of the permafrost temperature field reaction to climatic changes in separate regions of West Siberia.
