Survey examines charging behavior in various land types, suggesting enhanced resource matching for electric vehicles.
To address the challenges of the uneven spatial and temporal distribution of electric vehicles’ (EVs) shared charging facilities, along with suboptimal utilization rates and the resulting user inconvenience, a comprehensive questionnaire survey was conducted among users across various land types in Changshu City, China. Using this dataset, the authors developed a hybrid choice model to explore the influence of personal attributes, EV usage characteristics, psychological latent factors and charging scenario attributes on behaviours related to charging resource sharing. The model achieved a 76.72% hit rate in residential areas, 75.31% in office areas and 74.30% in commercial areas, yielding an overall hit rate of 75.44%. The analysis included common charging scenarios involving users of charging facilities across different land use types who shared charging resources. This shared usage resulted in increased charging costs and reduced travel distance. The statistical findings offer a solid foundation for the subsequent matching of charging resource supply and demand.
