Abstract

ABSTRACT An efficient and greener one‐pot method have been developed for the synthesis of 2,4‐disubstituted imidazole derivative by using deep eutectic solvent (DES), via formation of benzamidine, nucleophilic addition and finally liberation of N2 by the formation of hydrogen bond without using any metal, base or additive. Here, DES plays a dual role as alternative solvent and catalyst by giving interesting yields and functional group tolerance in the reaction conditions.
