The purpose of this study was to compare newly licensed nurses’ role transition experiences and evaluate the impact of a nurse residency program before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Outcomes were measured using the Casey-Fink Graduate Nurse Experience Survey, participant satisfaction, and program completion rates. Results showed a modified in-person residency program positively impacted participants’ transition during an unprecedent time. Nursing professional development practitioners were encouraged to adopt innovative strategies to address transitional challenges.
