Interviews highlight early-career researchers exploring physiological systems and chemical cues in biology, promoting diversity.
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Jiao Li and Lauric Feugere are authors on ‘ Chemical cues and molecular mechanisms suspected in abiotic stress communication’, published in JEB. Jiao is a PhD student in the lab of Katharina Wollenberg Valero at University College Dublin, Ireland, investigating chemical communication in ectotherms. Lauric is a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Prof. Piero Calosi at Université du Québec a Rimouski, Canada, investigating the molecular mechanisms underpinning the responses of aquatic species to global changes.
