This analysis uncovers the spatial distribution of ore-bearing intrusions in Norilsk, suggesting geological implications.
It is shown that the intrusions of various types are located in the Norilsk industrial ore node according to the concentric principle. The central part of the ore field is mainly occupied by ore-bearing intrusions surrounded by thick zones of the Lower-Talnakh bodies with the Zubovsk intrusions, if any, located in the ore field outskirts. The relative age of various types of intrusions has been determined more exactly and follows the sequence: Lower Talnakh – Zubovsk – ore-bearing units. A decrease in ore content in ore-bearing intrusions is shown to be genetically connected with their different spatial position within the central part of the ore field and with heterogeneous lateral distribution presumably of rich orebodies within intrusions. The typical features of the localization and structure of the ore-bearing intrusions and their parts vary under the influence of varied plasticity of enclosing rocks, which is illustrated by abundant evidence.
