The combined use of TEVAR and the chimney graft technique is an effective and safe endovascular approach for complex descending aortic thrombosis involving the subclavian artery ostium.
A 61-year-old woman with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia was admitted with peripheral embolism in the left arm. Computed tomography angiography showed dense thrombus in the descending aorta, left subclavian artery ostium and radial artery. The patient was successfully treated with thoracic endovascular aortic replacement + chimney graft technique and discharged on postoperative day 5.
Günerhan et al. (Thu,) conducted a case report in Descending aortic thrombosis involving the left subclavian artery ostium (n=1). Thoracic endovascular aortic replacement (TEVAR) + chimney graft technique was evaluated on Resolution of left upper extremity ischaemia and stent patency. Thoracic endovascular aortic replacement combined with the chimney graft technique successfully treated descending aortic thrombosis and preserved left upper extremity perfusion in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
