This energy harvester enhances output in smart grid sensor nodes, indicating effective self-powering solutions.
Aiming at the power supply problem of online monitoring sensor nodes of high‐voltage transmission lines in smart grids, a multi‐source energy harvester is presented to effectively harvest the magnetic field energy and wind energy of transmission lines. Based on the piezoelectric‐electromagnetic working principle, in the designed structure, the piezoelectric and electromagnetic hybrid energy harvester is simultaneously excited by the rotary magnets, generating a synergistic effect, which can significantly enhance the energy harvesting efficiency. The experimental results indicate that the electromagnetic generator(EMG) unit achieves a maximum output voltage of 4.5 V and a load power of 14.5 mW at 900 rpm, while the piezoelectric generator(PEG) unit reaches an output voltage of 15.1 V and a load power of 0.51 mW when the current is 14 A. Subsequently, the generated outputs are utilized for capacitor charging, demonstrating that the integrated performance of the two units is significantly superior to that of the individual units. Finally, a realistic application further shows that the device can successfully provide an effective and sustainable solution for self‐powered wireless sensor nodes in smart grids operating in complex environments.
