Heritage assessment evaluates architectural significance in Glasgow's conservation area, indicating proposed development is safe.
Rocket Heritage & Archaeology Ltd was commissioned by RKA Architectural Design Studio to produce a Heritage Statement in advance of proposed development at 133 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, Scotland. The Level 2 building recording will evaluate the archaeological potential and significance of the Category B listed building located at 133 Buchanan Street, Glasgow. The site forms part of 67-79 (Odd Nos) St Vincent Street, 10-14 (Even Nos) Drury Street, which is a Category B listed building). The building derives its significance from a combination of its architectural and historic significance. It is located within the Glasgow Central Conservation Area and contributes to its distinct 18-19th century character. Together with its neighbours, the site exemplifies the highly decorative commercial palaces that came to dominate the streetscape. The assessment has established that the proposed changes will result in no harm to 67-79 (Odd Nos) St Vincent Street, 10-14 (Even Nos) Drury Street or the Glasgow Central Conservation Area.
