Abstract The New Year heralds the start of a new biennium for IUPAC. There is no better way to start this President’s column than by acknowledging the many wonderful volunteers who make up the IUPAC family, and who have energetically contributed to our activities, projects, events and many meetings, online or face-to-face, during the past biennium.
