Modified Harmony TPV successfully accommodates short RVOT anatomy in a child with severe PR.
Why the study?
A short right ventricular outflow tract is an anatomical limitation for transcatheter self-expandable pulmonary valve placement, presenting a challenge when appropriately-sized balloon-expandable valves are unavailable.
Demonstrates a novel modification of the Harmony transcatheter pulmonary valve to overcome anatomical limitations in pediatric patients with short right ventricular outflow tracts.
Modified Harmony TPV may accommodate short RVOT in select cases; hypothesis-generating and leaves open need for prospective validation.
A short right ventricular outflow tract represents an anatomical limitation for transcatheter self‐expandable pulmonary valve placement. In this report, we present an innovative modification of the Harmony TM transcatheter pulmonary valve to accommodate the short right ventricular outflow tract anatomy in an 11‐year‐old boy in a setting in which an appropriately‐sized balloon expandable valve was unavailable.
