Case report highlights chorea in a diabetic patient, suggesting need for awareness and timely intervention.
Chorea–hyperglycemia–basal ganglia (CHBG) syndrome is a rare movement disorder associated with uncontrolled hyperglycemia in diabetic patients. This report highlights a case of CHBG syndrome and emphasizes the need for clinicians to recognize this condition. A 35-year-old male with a recent diagnosis of diabetes presented with acute, involuntary movements in his left upper limb. After thorough evaluation and management, including strict glycemic control, the patient’s symptoms resolved completely. CHBG syndrome should be considered in diabetic patients presenting with movement disorders. Timely recognition and management of hyperglycemia can lead to complete symptom resolution.
