Interview highlights findings on organelle diversity in neurons, suggesting implications for neurobiology.
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Reem Abouward is first author on ‘ LAMP1 and LAMP2A localise to axonal organelles with distinct motility dynamics and partially overlapping molecular signatures in human neurons’, published in JCS. Reem conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in Giampietro Schiavo's lab at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, London, UK. She is now a postdoc in the lab of Jernej Ule at The Francis Crick Institute, London, UK, investigating the heterogeneity of membrane-bound and membraneless organelles in neurons.
