ABSTRACT This work represents the catalytic oxidation of morin dye by chitosan‐stabilized Cu nanoparticles (CH‐CuNPs) as biocompatible heterogeneous catalysts in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) as an oxidant. As‐synthesized CH‐CuNPs have been characterized by various spectroscopic techniques such as field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and x‐ray diffraction (XRD). The results demonstrate that the average diameter of CH‐CuNPs is 215 nm, and the surface potential is +41 mV. The catalytic properties of CH‐CuNPs have been studied through the oxidation of morin, congo red and methylene blue. While CH‐CuNPs have little catalytic activity on the catalytic oxidation of congo red and methylene blue, they display a high activity in the oxidation of morin, as a common test dye for catalytic bleaching, under the same experimental conditions. The results suggest that CH‐CuNPs have great potential for applications in catalytic bleaching and other organic transformations.
