Abstract: India Education system has traditionally emphasized the integrated and holistic development of the human personality and the behavior. Skills such as communication skills, leadership skills, strategic management skills, emotional intelligence, teamwork and collaboration were considered as the soft skills. And all these skills were rooted in India tradition. Since the beginning such as, Stone Age and Indus Valley Civilization human creativity has depicted on the walls in the form of paintings, found in caves. Even the ancient Indian Gurukula system of residential education and contemporary national New Education Policy focuses on holistic development hence the role of soft is crucial.The present paper depicts the role and the development of soft skills through Indian Models. It also signifies the role of Shivaji Maharaj as a strategic administrator and commander of soft skills in administrations. The paper contributes in the understanding of soft skills through Indian perspective and role models. As the literature has widely cover Shivaji Maharaj under different themes. Hence this paper presents Shivaji Maharaj’s textual understanding in the development of leadership and communication skills as soft skills development. The paper also depicts that ancient education system has already embodies the soft skills as an integrated part in learning of soft skills and its development. For this the paper uses qualitative, critical and analytical method with close reading and understanding of the personality. Thus the paper aims to present the efficient eastern Indian leaders as the source for soft skills development.
