Magnetostratigraphic analysis identifies paleomagnetic zones in the Neogene of the Irtysh region, suggesting correlations with global scales.
This paper presents a magnetoctratigraphic section of Neogene, covering its five suites, and constructed on the basis of biostratigraphic and paleomagnetic data received while drilling a reference well 1-OΠ in the Irtysh region near Omsk at the known outcrop Novaya Stanitsa. Thirteen paleomagnetic zones have been revealed in this section, which are associated with faunistic and floral complexes and correlated with the world magnetostratiraphic scale.
