Explores restoration methods for enhancing seismic safety in cultural masonry buildings, indicating significant findings.
The topics addressed in this paper concern some interventions for the seismic improvement of masonry buildings of cultural interest with reference also to the interaction between the structure and the decorative apparatus with a twofold objective. The first is to illustrate some solutions for the restoration of building elements in compliance with traditional techniques with a high level of effectiveness from the point of view of seismic improvement that take into account the decorative apparatuses considering them as an integral part of the structure for the purposes of the safety of the work. The second is to show how certain artefacts have a resistance capacity to seismic actions that is not intercepted by the calculation models most widely used in professional practice.
