Field investigation evaluates acaricides to reduce yellow mites and improve yield in chilli crops, indicating effective options.
AbstractIn present field investigation efficacy of selected acaricides viz., Chlofenapyr 10% SC, Fenpyroximate 5% SC, Spiromesifen 22.9% SC, Hexythiazox 5.45% EC, Fenazaquin 10% EC, and Propargite 57% EC was evaluated against yellow mites in chilli. Results revealed significant differences among treatments, with Chlofenapyr 10% SC consistently recording the lowest mite population and highest reduction (up to 72.24%) over control, followed by Fenpyroximate 5% SC. Moderate efficacy was observed with Fenazaquin and Hexythiazox, whereas Propargite showed the least effectiveness. Yield data further demonstrated that Chlofenapyr 10% SC achieved the highest fruit yield (38.0 - 38.67 t/ha), nearly doubling that of the untreated control (18.33 - 18.50 t/ha), while Fenpyroximate and Fenazaquin also provided substantial yield benefits. The pooled results across both years confirmed that Chlofenapyr and Fenpyroximate were the most reliable acaricides for yellow mite management in chilli, while Fenazaquin and Hexythiazox may serve in rotation to delay resistance development.
