We propose that the complementarity of causal network expansion (entropy) and local relational density (negentropy) provides a candidate ontological drive for the growth dynamics of causal sets — addressing the open problem of why structured, manifold-like causets arise from sequential growth without imposing additional axioms. The proposal extends Dou and Sorkin's identification of entropy with causal link count into a dynamic account of the directional bias of causal network growth.
