Introduction: An unprecedented wave of severe Group A streptococcal infections emerged in early 2023. Initial cases included severe necrotising fasciitis, septicaemia with toxic shock syndrome, features of multi-organ failure, and rapid progression to death within 3–24 hours. In our network, most Group A streptococcal presentations arise from the emergency department, followed by inpatients and diagnostic referrals. Rapid molecular testing has been explored as a quick diagnostic option.
