A significant part of the climatic zones of the Russian Federation is characterized by the widespread occurrence of specific soil conditions represented by peat, waterlogged, and saturated clay deposits. In the conditions of climate warming, there arises a need to improve methods for stabilizing bodies of thawed and seasonally frozen soils represented by these soils. The issue of stabilizing saturated clay soils is one of the most complex problems in modern construction. Such soils cannot be loosened, and therefore cement, bitumen, silicate solutions, polymer and other binding materials cannot be applied for their strengthening. One of the promising ways to increase the bearing capacity of such foundations is the technology of chemical piles. This article focuses on the change of state parameters and properties of the soil after treatment with chemical piles based on quicklime and its mixture with calcium chloride (1:1). The object of research is a model soil presented by water-saturated blue Cambrian clay, after 28 days of stabilization with chemical piles based on the described substances. The research methodology included weighing moisture control and determining shear resistance parameters using single-plane shear testing equipment. Based on the results of the conducted laboratory experiment under the principle of physical modeling, it was established that the installation of chemical piles is an effective method for targeted improvement of the physical and mechanical characteristics of saturated clay soil bodies. During stabilization, there is an intense reduction in soil moisture in the contact zones with the piles by 50% from the initial values, leading to significant strengthening of the structure. In the case of both compositions of piles based on quicklime (CaO) and the mixture of calcium chloride with quicklime (CaCl2+CaO), the stabilization radius is more than 0.20 m. The results confirm the high efficiency of the method as a technique for managing permafrost processes due to its ability to change soil moisture and their organomineral composition.
