The healthcare system in Ghana relies heavily on district hospitals for primary care services. Panel data analysis was employed to assess the performance and reliability of district hospitals across different regions in Ghana. District hospitals showed a moderate level of efficiency, with an estimated coefficient of 0. 52 0. 12 (95% CI) indicating a positive but variable impact on service delivery. The reliability of district hospitals can be enhanced through targeted interventions and resource allocation strategies. District health authorities should prioritise training programmes for healthcare workers and invest in infrastructure improvements to improve system reliability.
