Mixed-methods analysis shows increased agricultural productivity in female farmers, highlighting the need for targeted financial support.
In Ethiopia's Rift Valley, female farmers face significant challenges in accessing markets and securing financial resources to enhance their agricultural productivity. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including pre- and post-assessments of farmer surveys, focus group discussions, and baseline data collection. Female farmers who received microfinance loans experienced an average increase in their crop yields by 15% compared to those not receiving financial support. The intervention significantly improved market access for female farmers through enhanced financial resources, leading to increased productivity and economic empowerment. Policy makers should prioritise the provision of targeted financial assistance programmes specifically designed for female farmers in the Rift Valley region.
