Analysis reveals differences in optical properties of B2GGS and CSP crystals, suggesting optimization strategies for amplification.
Mid-infrared sources are vital for spectroscopy, strong-field physics, and sensing. We compare B2GGS and CSP crystals in phase matching, group-velocity matching (GVM), and spatial walk-off under a unified dispersion model. B2GGS pumped at ~1.8 μm offers a continuous GVM range (3.7-10 μm) with small non-collinear angles, enabling high gain and low walk-off. CSP has higher nonlinearity but segmented, wavelength-sensitive GVM. The two crystals show opposite wavelength-dependent walk-off trends due to refractive-index gradients. This provides guidance for crystal selection and mid-infrared optical parametric amplification optimization.
