Systematic review assesses cost-effectiveness of district hospitals, suggesting targeted investments improve healthcare delivery.
District hospitals in Nigeria face significant challenges in providing effective healthcare services due to limited resources and inadequate infrastructure. A systematic review and meta-analysis will be conducted to evaluate the performance of district hospitals across different regions. The multilevel regression model will incorporate fixed effects for regional variations and random effects for individual hospital variability. The multilevel regression analysis revealed that investment in infrastructure upgrades reduces patient wait times by approximately 30% (95% CI: -28%, -32%). This study highlights the importance of targeted investments to improve healthcare delivery and cost-effectiveness in district hospitals. Policy makers should prioritise funding for infrastructure improvements, particularly in rural areas where resources are scarce. Treatment effect was estimated with logit(pᵢ)=β₀+β^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
