The context of traditional birth attendants (TBAs) in Ethiopian urban areas is characterized by a high prevalence of maternal health issues such as obstetric complications and perinatal mortality, highlighting the need for comprehensive training to improve outcomes. Theoretical synthesis will be employed, drawing from existing literature on TBA training, maternal health outcomes, and cultural context specific to Ethiopian urban settings. The theoretical framework proposes a structured approach for TBAs' training to address key areas of maternal care, emphasising the importance of cultural sensitivity and evidence-based practices. Urban healthcare providers should prioritise developing and implementing TBA training programmes that align with this theoretical framework. This includes integrating culturally appropriate educational materials and continuous professional development opportunities.
