Qualitative exploration uncovers anxiety influences on teachers, suggesting mental health support is vital.
Anxiety disorders among secondary school teachers in Nigeria have received limited scholarly attention despite their significant impact on student mental health and educational outcomes. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 30 participants from urban centers in Nigeria. Data was analysed through thematic content analysis. Participants reported high levels of stress related to workload and job security, which significantly influenced their anxiety symptoms. The findings highlight the critical need for mental health support programmes tailored to teachers' specific needs within Nigerian educational settings. School administrators should prioritise teacher well-being by implementing stress management workshops and counseling services.
