Quasi-experimental designs assess adoption rates in municipal water systems, highlighting socio-economic impacts.
Municipal water systems in Senegal have seen varying degrees of adoption due to differing socio-economic factors and infrastructure conditions. A mixed-method approach combining survey data and GIS mapping was employed to assess adoption rates among communities. A logistic regression model was used to analyse predictors of adoption, with robust standard errors accounting for potential confounding variables. The analysis revealed that access to improved sanitation facilities significantly increased the likelihood of adopting municipal water systems (OR = 1.52, CI: 1.07-2.16). Quasi-experimental designs offer a robust methodology for assessing adoption rates in municipal water systems but require careful consideration of contextual factors to ensure accurate results. Future studies should consider longitudinal data collection to track changes over time and incorporate qualitative insights to enhance understanding of complex adoption dynamics.
