The work studied the nucleophilic addition of urea and thiourea to antipyryl-substituted 1-pyrrol-2,3- diones, leading to the formation of 1-antipyryl-4-aroyl-3-hydroxy-5-methoxycarbonyl-5-ureido-1- pyrrol-2-ones and 1-antipyryl-4-aroyl-3-hydroxy-5-methoxycarbonyl-5-thioureido-1-pyrrol-2-ones, respectively. The products of spiroheterocyclization of 1-antipyryl-4-aroyl-3-hydroxy-5-methoxycarbonyl- 5-ureido-1-pyrrol-2-ones are presented.
