Abstract

The digital divide persists in urban youth populations in Nairobi, Kenya, where access to technology is uneven and literacy levels vary widely. A mixed-methods approach including surveys, focus groups, and secondary data analysis will be employed to gather comprehensive insights into programme uptake and its effects. Digital literacy adoption rates were notably higher among youths with higher socioeconomic status (SES), influencing both their access to health information and healthcare utilization. The findings suggest that targeted digital literacy interventions can improve health outcomes for urban youth, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds, by enhancing their ability to seek appropriate medical care. Public health initiatives should prioritise the development of accessible digital literacy programmes tailored to diverse youth populations in Nairobi. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
