Reveals new structural facts about a kimberlite body in the Aikhal area, suggesting patterns for exploration.
With one of kimberlitic diatremes being recently recognized in the Aikhal area, two facts not known earlier were stated, i.e., the presence of overlapping deposits of Lower Carboniferous rocks in the section and essential effect of differentiated “aggressive” traps on kimberlites proper. Structural conditions of the new diatreme localization confirm the earlier regularities: control of kimberlitic magmatism by a prolonged tectonic zone, association of trap “windows” with pipes and the presence of near-pipe collapse depressions. The above regularities of spatial localization of kimberlite bodies and new facts are to be used when searching for kimberlites in the Aikhal and other areas of the Siberian Platform.
