Geological modeling identifies ore types associated with komatiitic series in greenstone belts, suggesting links to rifting zones.
The location of the most productive nickeliferous regions of the Earth is associated with the systems of the intercontinental rifting zones of triradiate structure. This conclusion is also valid for the Archean greenstone belts, where large-scale concentrations of sulfide ores of nickel are associated with belts of the Western Australian type. A belt of this type is characterized by the formation of differentiated peridotitic komatiites being a part of the komatiitic series. Geological conditions of the origin of deposits in komatiites are approximated by a polyfacies system of subsynchronous and comagmatic bodies. There are three types of ore deposits: distal, proximal, and intrusive subvolcanic. Only one facies is ore-bearing in each system. The conformity of the model to specific objects has been considered by example of greenstone belts of the Western Australia and Eastern Karelia.
