Exploration of drone technology improves biodiversity and land management practices among farmers in Europe, enhancing environmental conditions.
In Europe, many biodiverse grassland ecosystems are embedded within pastoral, that is, agricultural landscapes. The poster presents a research exploring the potential of drone technology to support farmers in managing semi-natural grasslands and in communicating their nature-friendly farming practices. This is carried out through the activities of a of a Living Lab in the frame of the Horizon Europe project CODECS: a collaborative research effort between two main actors: academics from environmental protection and landscape management remote sensing team, and grass-fed beef farmers in Latvia and Estonia. Together, they aim to improve local environmental conditions, enhance wildlife habitats and agricultural land biodiversity, and strengthen landscape aesthetics and recreational value
