This research demonstrates improved catalytic degradation in hydrogel nanostructures, highlighting their environmental applications.
An eco-friendly in-situ formation of bio-hybridized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) anchored on reduced graphene oxide (Ag@rGO) hydrogel was achieved through biogenic mediator. Fabricated bio-hybridized Ag@rGO hydrogel was characterized using various analytical techniques, confirming the successful formation of Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on the rGO sheets. The morphological, crystalline, and structural features of the synthesized Ag NPs and Ag@rGO hydrogel were validated through TEM, FE-SEM, and XRD analyses. Morphological analysis revealed the formation of large rGO sheets spanning several square microns, attributed to agglomeration and strong interfacial contact between Ag NPs and rGO. The electro chemical performance of biohybridized Ag@rGO/CC hydrogel was evaluated with carbon cloth electrodes and compare with bare rGO/CC. This study highlights the effectiveness of bio-hybridization in enhancing the performance of carbon-supported metallic nanoparticles and presents an eco-friendly nanocatalyst for efficient biological activity and medicinal purposes. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity of biohybridized Ag@rGO hydrogel showed significant radical-scavenging activity compared to the standard used. The Ag@rGO hydrogel combines the catalytic power of Ag nanoparticles, the exceptional conductivity of rGO , and the mass-transport advantages of a hydrogel. This synergy leads to superior catalytic degradation efficiency and enhanced electro catalytic activity, making Ag@rGO hydrogels highly promising for environmental remediation, energy conversion, and electrochemical sensing applications.
