Abstract

Urban youth in Djibouti face diverse socio-economic challenges that influence their political engagement. This article employs qualitative research methods to analyse existing literature and conceptual frameworks related to youth identity and political participation in urban Africa. The theoretical framework underscores the complex interplay between youth identity and political participation, highlighting the importance of context-specific approaches to understanding urban youth's political dynamics. Future research should consider longitudinal studies to track changes in youth engagement over time, while policymakers could incorporate tailored strategies based on identified identity themes.
