Youth Identity and Political Participation in Urban Ethiopia: A Sociological Exploration

Youth in urban Ethiopia face significant challenges related to identity formation and political engagement. Qualitative interviews were conducted with young people aged 18-35 from various urban centers across Ethiopia. Youth in urban Ethiopia exhibit varied but often intersecting identities based on ethnicity, religion, and socioeconomic status, which shape their political participation levels. Identity diversity within youth groups contributes to a nuanced understanding of their political engagement patterns.
