Is mental stress-induced myocardial ischemia more common in young female survivors of an acute myocardial infarction compared to age-matched men?
Young women (≤50 years) who survive an MI have a higher susceptibility to mental stress-induced myocardial ischemia compared to men, a difference that disappears in older age groups.
MSIMI post-MI is more common in women 50 years or younger compared with age-matched men. These sex differences are not observed in post-MI patients who are older than 50 years.
